Check The Poker Rooms Poker Review Before Playing!

In This Page:

There are certain poker rooms on the Internet that are not reputable and are good places for you to avoid. Probably the best way to identify the poker rooms that you want to avoid is to look through an online poker room review directory and to find “blacklisted poker rooms”. The blacklisted poker rooms in a poker review are the more obvious poker rooms that you want to avoid. Another way to know which poker rooms to avoid is to do a little research on the company behind the poker rooms and to see if there have been a number of lawsuits for unauthorized credit card charges or charges of fraud. A poker review often will tell you who the company is that operates the website. A poker review will also usually tell you about the financial security of the website.

One way for you the user to determine the financial security of the poker rooms is to see who the financial supporters are for the poker rooms. Sometimes you can find this information by looking at a poker review. By this, I mean who is advertising on the poker rooms and who is carrying their advertisements. If you come across a web page that simply has multiple words typed over and over again offering no real content, you should avoid the link listed on that page. This means that if you were to find a web page that for example says “poker hands, poker sites, best poker room, free play poker rooms, etc.” over and over again steer clear of that link. That is a very cheap way for someone to try and generate web traffic to their poker rooms and to gain high search engine rankings.

Another factor that a poker review considers when looking at the fraud elements of poker rooms is their ability to prevent collusion. Collusion is when one person can run more than one account at a time in poker rooms, or when two people are obviously working together to dominate the poker rooms. If you have played poker enough, you can see how people could work together to win your money. For example, if you are playing Texas hold ‘em and you make a small bet and one of two players always goes all in, putting you all in too, to make sure you fold or lose the hand, this could be collusion among those two players in the poker rooms.

A poker forum, where players and poker review professionals go to discuss on message boards their experiences with poker rooms, is another good way to know which poker rooms to avoid. An online poker room review directory often carries these types of poker review forums and message boards. If a person goes to the trouble to write a poker review about the negative experience that he or she has had in certain poker room, it is a good indicator that those poker rooms are not places you will want to play.

Free play poker rooms are much safer. Free play poker rooms have no appeal to cheats or scammers. There is no money for them to try to take from you in the free play poker rooms. If you are uncomfortable with giving credit card information online, then use the free play poker rooms for an enjoyable safe time.

In the end, many of the more popular and well-known poker rooms are very safe and offer high security encryption software to protect your account information. Most of the well established poker sites want customers, and therefore they take great strides to protect their customers and their customer’s financial data.

"With no actual risk of loss, no understanding of reward comes and, thus, no actual lesson on how the game should best be played." This line is the crux of James Abel's article which warns against playing free poker for the wrong reasons.

Forums and message boards are the way to go
This is a very important article and I hope all the readers pay close attention to what this writer is saying. With all the fraud and identity theft that is going on in the world today, you must take precautions to make sure the poker room you play in is secure. I agree 100% that poker forums and message boards are important. I feel they are the perfect place to start. If someone has had a bad experience, you can bet your bottom dollar that they are going to talk about it.
