I'm not afraid of a challenge.

Good job on pointing out some of the key differences between brick-and-mortar/online Hold 'Em games. When I first began to start playing HE online, I was very surprised by the difference in speed -- like you said, in-person games go much, much more slowly. I really enjoy HE online because of the ability to play far more hands in an hour than I can in a true table game. Many of my friends (who do not play online poker) have said, "Why do you play poker online for real money? You can't bluff online, and you can't tell what anyone has!" At this, I simply smile. Anyone that knows anything about online poker would know how ridiculous that statement really is. :)

Texas holdem poker room games are taking the country by storm. The popularity of Texas holdem poker room games has grown in large part due to the poker tournaments such as the world poker tour. Add to this that Texas holdem poker room games are relatively easy to learn and to play and you have the makings for the recent growth in popularity of poker room games. Let us take a look at how to play online holdem.

In a Texas holdem poker room you are first dealt two cards. This is followed by one round of betting, it is during this round of betting that you can check, call, raise, or fold depending on how strong you think your hand is. The next step in a Texas holdem poker room is called the flop. This is where the dealer will reveal three cards. This is followed by another round of betting where again you can check, call, raise, or fold. After this round a fourth card is revealed, also called Fourth Street. The same steps as the previous rounds follow this. In the final step, the fina...

Very Good For Starters...
But I think we need to focus more on the real holdem game strategies. Anyone have any tips for a starter? My one piece of advice is don't get seduced by a good looking ace-trash off-suit. It's fine in the .05/.10 games, but when you venture into real turf, you're going to get smoked. ANY pocket pair has an advantage on Ace-Crap.

Beginning players
The game of Texas hold'em is certainly the poker game where more skill can be involved in playing then any other poker game I have played. When first starting out it is a good idea to learn the rules by playing a non-money game at first. The skills involved in playing skillfull Texas Hold'em are involved and require practice to understand and comprehend what is being taught. Every hand you play should teach you something, watch how the other players are playing certain hands and make notes.
