Comment: A gentlemen's disagreement

I am a placeholder for a signature.

There's an old saying ... that if you can't find the sucker at the table, then it's probably you. Thus, if you are pretending that a free game is for real money, just don't be disappointed when it's time to cash out. Well, at least if feels the same as when you go broke. Poker is played for money, period.

The great pitcher Sandy Koufax once said, "People who write about spring training not being necessary have never tried to throw a baseball." So it would seem with Josh's view of playing free online poker.

Sure, you'll find an occasional stalker in the crowd that likes to beat beginners down cause he's got some childhood repression. Just avoid them or be patient and learn how to bust someone out. Th...

I don't like Spring Training
Baseball metaphors get the blood going around this time of year as we learn which multi-millionaire is going to hold out because his megadeal is no longer the biggest in the league, and his parking spot is too far from the clubhouse. But while I agree that freerolls have certain merits for aspiring poker students (not many, but a few), they are still not a quality poker training environment for reasons mentioned in my own article.

Have to agree with Jack on this one. Free rolls played right can bring a massive benefit for the beginner wishing to advance to proper cash games. True, it is not everyone's cup of tea, but done right - it can only help.
