I'm not afraid of a challenge.

I just saw this article and I wish it had been around when I started playing poker online...at first, I was afraid to play at any sites that required a download, so I stuck to the Java applets...now, I refuse to play unless the site has a downloadable interface! I think this article will come in handy for a lot of beginners. :)

Getting started with online poker is very easy. On line poker rooms generally use one of two different types of poker room software to power their on line poker rooms. Both options are really straightforward and are easy-to-install.

The first type of online poker room software is the Java applet. There is nothing to fear from the Java applet, as this is the same technology that Yahoo! Games use in their game rooms.

The second type of on line poker room software is a poker download, which you will install on your computer. Some people do not feel comfortable with the poker download because they worry about viruses, spyware, spam, etc. Honestly, you should always have Anti-Virus software installed on your computer with the current updates installed as well. Once you receive the poker download, scan the poker download for viruses before installing it. This will help put your poker download fears to rest.

I feel the same as The Gamer Chik, I wish I had read this article when I first stared playing online. However, I have always been drawn to the download. This article is packed with informative Q & A for the beginner. A must read!
